Darbo cita (doo doo doo doo doo) –

To be clear that is the mama cita music, NOT the baby shark music. Fuck the baby shark, you will never hear of that. I will never put myself or your mother through that and any parent who does is a fucking moron. Okay, sorry for the hot start, just had to get that out there.

Today mom is headed to the doctor for another visit. It’s smack dab at 3:30 on a Thursday so your boy is stuck at work, but mom is going to try to get video/photos for me. Every day you’re getting a little bigger and it’s so cool. Mom’s bump is bumpin’.

Summer is flying by and I don’t know if it’s because you’re cooking in there or what, but I can’t believe we’re almost half way through August already. We definitely have not done enough summer stuff. Last year we went to the beach almost every weekend. This year, we’ve only been twice and one of the times was miserable because there was too much wind. I want to do so much but time and money are the enemy. I want to take mom on a little trip. I want to rent a summer house on a lake. Hopefully once you’re born, we can start some summer family traditions, like going to a place every year or doing a yearly road trip. Something. Pat’s family does a trip every August where they get everybody together and it’s always sounded awesome. They head up to Lake Taghkanic.

I was also telling mom the other day that I want to buy a house and plant a tree in the back or front yard and make it our family tree. We can carve our names in it and pass the house down and have generations all be part of it. Now that I’m going to be a dad I’m thinking more about legacy. I don’t know nearly enough about who my family was before grandma. I know grandma’s dad was an insurance salesman, but he died when she was 11. On grandpa’s side I know his dad died when he was young, and his mom wasn’t the best. She was an alcoholic and didn’t care much for being a mom, so she let her sisters raise him and Aunt Barbara. Obviously, we can’t control health, but I want you to have a relationship with your family. I want you to know who people are and to have stories about them that can help you contextualize who you are. Mom’s family is all pretty tight-knit, at least on your grandma’s side. She stays on the phone all day with her sister’s and they’re all up in each other’s business. Grandpa’s family on mom’s side, not so much. I’ve never met any of them.

I wish I had brothers or sisters for you to have aunts and uncles on my side but there are gonna be so many people who love you and care for you. Depending on when you read this, you might know them already.

Here are a few pics of me and mom today, we like to trade selfies. We’re fuckin hot.

Love you big time,

Dad
